Visualizing Modules

The easiest way to understand Modules would be to think of them as rectangles of functionality.

Modern websites are built using rectangles*.

Etsy store, divided into Modules

If you look at the page above, there are three different rectangles in the image.

Each of these rectangles represents a Module.

Each Module contains functionality that helps the customer find the product they want.

When we tag a module, we report all interactions inside as part of that module.

Tagging the main Modules of the site is how Component Analytics gives you so much data.

Having all interactions bound to Modules make it easier to follow customer journeys.

Which in turn gives you a better understanding of your customers.

* Building sites using rectangles became popular after the introduction of smartphones. As it was easier to have the same website adjust itself for desktop and mobile.
