The issues with Whim Tagging

When the organization has questions about how customers use the website.

You may start tagging a few interactions you believe will answer their questions.

Whim tagging is when you tag interactions on the site you believe are of interest.

Here are a few of the issues with Whim Tagging:

  • It’s hard to decide which interactions to tag.
  • After you’ve tagged something, you have to wait weeks or months to get enough data to do your analysis.
  • You can’t discover anything in the data outside the few things you’ve tagged.
  • The data has a bias towards what you or the organization believe is interesting.

When you have the data, you realize this interaction wasn’t enough to get a full picture. You need another one.

And now you’ve started the cycle of waiting.

Tag an interaction, wait for the data, realize it may not be enough, tag another interaction.

Gaining actual insight is difficult when you have few data points.

What if you had all the data ready to go?
