Complexity of navigation is the first criteria when deciding if a site is a good fit for Component Analytics.
I define the navigation as complex when there’s more than one way to get to the main pages of the site.
The main pages on an e-commerce are product pages, product listing pages and checkout page.

For example, on the Etsy homepage, there are 4 ways to access a product:
- Product Search: You can search for a product.
- Highlighted Listings: The “Everyday finds” section allows you to navigate to product listings.
- Highlighted Product: The “Popular gifts right now” section includes several highlighted products.
- Menu: On the second image you can see the product categories. These take you to product listings for each category
Component Analytics will tell you which of these 4 ways your customers use.
Comparing them will tell you what hurdles the customers encounter on their journeys.
Removing these hurdles helps them achieve their goals on your site.
