Product Owners need to understand their customer’s as part of their jobs.
They have the most contact with customers, and if it’s a consumer product, may be customers themselves.
Closeness to the product can actually blind product owners to the issues of the products.
You can discover some customer needs by following their usage of the product.
This understanding of the customer is hard to gain by asking them, as they usually haven’t realized they’re using your product in a certain way.
Having reports of customer usage of the site gives Product Owners the space needed from the product to analyze the customer.
Leading to a different type of customer knowledge.
The knowledge of what the customer says they want compared to what they actually do.
Validating current assumptions about the customers and discovering new customer issues.
