Customer knowledge and Design

While management makes key-decisions, they’re usually in the form of product prioritization.

The next step is actually designing the business use case.

This is when designers do research on customer needs.

Customer knowledge can shorten the research period.

It can also make researching easier due to better focus.

They can focus on the customer segment, the issues the customers are currently facing, and what drives customer’s to convert.

Design is at the forefront of customer research.

However, their research is usually qualitative in nature.

Gaining customer knowledge in the form of quantitative reports fills a big hole in designing for customer needs.

Remember, the cheapest development is the one that doesn’t happen.

When the designer avoids designing things that don’t help the customer.

They make the whole organization more efficient
