Component Analytics example: the sign up

On a membership site, a typical CTA may be to sign up.

If Component Analytics is implemented on the page. The interaction should be reported like this

  • Interaction Component name: button
  • Interaction type: click
  • Interaction Component content: Sign up
  • Layout Component name: hero
  • Layout Component title: Join this amazing community
  • Where in the Layout Component: Nothing here, there is no reason here to specify where as there is only one place to click.

Note the sign up button in the menu on the top right of the image.

If the Layout Component name wasn’t reported on this click, we wouldn’t know if the user got to the sign up page using the hero button or the menu button.

Component Analytics allows you to follow a full user journey, knowing how they actually navigate through the site.

Rather than only seeing where they end up and try to guess what happened before.
