Reference – Button Component

The first Analytics reference will be the button component.

It’s one of the most common interaction on your site.

A button is an Interaction Component, thus it sets three values:

  • Interaction Component name: button
  • Interaction Component action: click
  • Interaction Component content: Add to cart
  • Interaction Component variant (optional): filled

One interesting piece of metadata you can tag is the button variant.

A lot of sites today have filled buttons as the primary call to action.

They then use ghost buttons as a secondary action the customer could take if they’re not ready for the main CTA.

The variant metadata allows analyzing if the customers are going for your main CTA’s or your secondary actions.
